Welcome
to the southern continent

D'Sanctine Weyr takes place in 10th Pass Pern. AIVAS was never discovered, and Thread still falls on the planet. Overpopulating causes stress in the Weyrs, which leads to the foundation of a new southern Weyr, dubbed D'Sanctine. A Hold is founded to support the Weyr, titled Sanctis Hold. Old riders and prospective candidates flock to the new Weyr for a chance at an easier, less crowded life, but the hatching of dragons of strange colors has left the more conservative holds and Weyrs in the north uneasy. The political atmosphere is tense as a drawn bowstring-- it is only a matter of time before the arrow is loosed.

Current Events
what's happening!

Summer - P10 T16

5/4/17 - Mornings have been foggy thanks to warm days and cool evenings. There was recently a routine Threadfall that only resulted in a few injuries and no fatalities. The weyrfolk are gathering and brewing up some vats of numbweed to resupply, so a section of the Weyr is going to be awfully stinky for a few days.

4/1/17 - Fall has arrived, and with it pleasant breezes and the occasional storm. It's by no means cold, but it isn't as impossibly hot and humid as summer gets.

"Oh, congratulations! She is so very pretty!" Cryssa would smile widely at S'era, giggling a little at how well the small firelizard was already getting along with the tall woman. She would then press up a bit more against Zarrin, looking quite content. "Whatever ends up happening, I am just glad to have you." she murmurs to him, clearly not all that shy about showing affection to him in front of people.

The blue remained firmly tucked against Surma and underneath one of her wings, pressed flat against the sand like some manner of a bottom dwelling fish. No, he seemed to be just fine with merely watching and waiting, unlike the occupant of another of the smaller eggs.

Once the first crack had been made, claws would tear at it in just as eager a manner when the green beauty had emerged. Soon there was a red and white snout poking out and keening loudly, briefly trying to force itself out before continuing to break up the shell. Soon the little fellow makes it out, with a very striking red pattern along his spine, his wings just as intense a colour and part of his white body stained red as well.

Completely ignoring his mother and even his brother, the white and red small hatchling thrills loudly and takes flight without a care, simply starting to fly around everywhere in the weyr and thrilling in a delighted manner. He was free! And he did not leave it there either, as he would circle around the women and... Well, anything female within the room, cooing and crooning at them while at times swooping down on the men and letting out a cackle similar to his mother, as if in amusement.

But soon hunger struck him, and he would look around from the air, pondering where to go. There were quite a few bowls, so perhaps he could just eat them all! His brother certainly was not in a hurry to have anything to bite! But in the end the white quartz makes note of one person in particular, and would promptly dive into the bowl in I'ra's hands, starting to gobble up eagerly while his tail whips about wildly.

Flighty Passion White Quartz
|| Bonded To ||
I'ra
|| Hex Code ||
#fcf6f6
|| Final Size ||
19 inches
|| Personality ||
Amorous .:. Impulsive .:. Daring .:. Offensive

Love take flight and rise.
Give courage to wanton youth.
But lead not to senseless ruin.

Singing and cooing praises to females of any kind, the owner of this fellow will
certainly find themselves with a headache. The heart patterned quartz is one of the three who have a similar serpentine body as their mother, and that might not be the only thing he has inherited. The rascal will bully creatures twice his size and larger easily if he is in the mood, showing similar focused pursuit as his mother often does. In the end though, he can be easily distracted from foul play with a tasty treat or a pretty lady passing by.

Behaviour of note: Cannibal; Mild.

His own hunger seeming to finally get the best of him, the blue hidden under Surma's wing would peer out a little, trying to have a good look at the people in the room. And rather suddenly he goes between instead of taking flight, and would appear on X'ular's wrist, crawling up along it to the bowl and starting to feed, whirling rainbow eyes looking about cautiously every now and then. The brighter markings on his body seem to give off an odd glow every now and then.

Blue of the Deep
|| Bonded To ||
X'ular
|| Hex Code ||
#b7cfe1
|| Final Size ||
25 inches
|| Personality ||
Calm .:. Sluggish .:. Tolerant .:. Hesitant

Bearded beast of the ocean.
Bringer of waves and whirlpools.
Sleeps to keep his life.

Of similar body build like his short legged father, this blue looks as if he is more squishy than firm, often lying limply at the bottom of a box or a drawer. That said, this blue likes to stay as much out of the way of others as he can, though he can go through quite a bit of prodding before he would finally switch places. He is wary of anything overly loud, and his ring markings seem to blink with brighter, stronger colours in his anxiety. Still, he always seems to be able to keep his cool, making his escape once the opportunity strikes.

Extra: Bioluminescent rings.

Maliciath hissed at the white quartz passed by, even more when he made the wierd noise at hers. Roland rubbed her head trying to soothe her. Once she curled up agian he turned back to the nest. The blue was gone, looking around he saw the blue with another rider happly eating. The last three eggs had not hatched yet and he could feel Maliciath's anxiety with so many people about.
"Darling lets move to the back. Hmm?" The green jumped up and moved Roland to the back. They were now closer to the ruby and his rider as they moved away from people.

O'rshon watches as each new hatchling bursts from the shell, his eyes widening a bit at the markings they produced. "Those are all beautiful.." Sabrina continued to mind herself, keeping herself as small and unobtrusive as possible, but she couldn't help but chirp softly at each new hatchling in a welcoming manner. He watched wistfully as each new impression was made, though they'd not yet had the luck of attaching one. He knew he might not, of course, but one never knew. There was certainly more hopefuls than there were available offspring.

I'ra watched each flit hatch with some interest and more curiosity. He had never seen so many of the little creatures before coming here, and certainly had never seen any so strikingly marked. They were interesting. Fellebynth wasn't as interested, however. The ruby kept one eye turned toward his green sister, his tail twitching in agitation as he watched her, eyes streaked with yellow. I'ra glanced toward Felle, then across at Maliciath. He saw Roland wave at him and, blinking, he waved back.

"He seems nice," the youth commented, his voice soft and meant for his dragon. Fellebynth made a huffy noise. Anything seems nice compared to her! I'ra made a vaguely agreeable noise, glancing down at his dragon again. "She hasn't been too bad yet." I don't trust it. She's plotting something.

I'ra considered his dragon and the ruby's worries for a long few moments, only startled out of it when something struck the bowl in his hands. He blinked and looked down to find a crimson and white flitter making a mess of the bowl. It gobbled up the meat with a gusto, and I'ra made sure to hold the bowl steady so that it would not overturn. He had expected to have to feed the little creature by hand, but it seemed perfectly capable of feeding itself. Carefully, he reached down with a finger to stroke along it's heart-marked back - only to have the quartz snap at his finger. Tiny teeth sank into his skin, but I'ra didn't flinch. After a moment the quartz made an odd little noise, then more gently licked and nuzzled the wounded digit, before turning back to his meal.

I'ra found himself smiling a touch. "He's fiesty."

Cryssa would smile as each new winged beauty finds their new owners, pleased that so far everything seemed to go well. Though the red marked quartz had been quite loud and energetic, even he had quickly found somewhere to settle, along with the shy blue. However, now it seemed like the remaining three eggs were still, and the harper felt concerned wether everything was fine...

Thankfully, there was wiggling once more, and as if they were both taken by urgency, the remaining small egg, and one of the large eggs began chipping and cracking together. From the small egg coos and soft croons came out, while the larger made strangely gruff sounds. Soon a green and blue, and a brown and green snout poked out, curiously facing each other, before claws work on making their respective egg openings larger. And the first to come out was a sturdy looking brown, with markings like moss running down his back and along his wings.

Surma seems quite pleased as always, though before she can even get to cleaning the brown, he would lumber over to his sister's egg, carefully making the hole she had been working on large enough for her to tumble out. And she did, wasting no time in greeting her brother with delighted chirps.

S'ol shifted where he was leaning then rolled a shoulder. This leaning was starting to put a kink in his back. Giving the hatchlings a curious look as they hatched and then promptly bonded he finally chuckled. Over on the pot Rodeo was alternating between crooning and squeaking as his offspring crawled from their shells and found their people.

Perhaps this is why no blue has caught a queen before. They simply tried too hard.

There's a small difference between a firelizard blue catching a queen and a dragon blue catching a queen.

No, that would be a large difference.

Turning to walk over to the ledge S'ol put a hand on Cindath's side to steady himself so he could stare at the Ruby who was peering out of their own weyr. You're an ass firebird.

They do say like calls to like.

Giving the dragon a bland look he turned back to watch the hatching and muttered under his breath. "Someone needs to apologize to the world for unleashing Rubies on them."

With the amount of time it took for the last three eggs to hatch Roland started to wonder if they were duds. He was relieved when two started to shake and crack. Maliciath watched with no interest at all as a brown and green hatched. She snorted when Roland tried to talk about their colors and markings.

Roland smiled down at his green, she was glancing around the room no loger watching the brown with the moss coloring or the green with the beautiful blue on her. He liked both of them a lot especially the green, however he was now possibly bias towards that color with his own dragon being green.

The blue rider watched as several strikingly marked firelizards hatched and found their people. He grins, nodding to each in turn and offering his congratulations. each was beautifully marked, at least to him, and even Sabrina seemed more interested. Of course, the little Queen would not move from O'rshon's shoulder. She knew better. Lightly stroking the Obsidian's chin, he turned his attention back to the nest as two more eggs finally hatched, a mottled brown and a striking green. "Oh.. look at them. Aren't they beautiful?" If asked, he couldn't pick one over the other, as both were gorgeous, though he did seem to keep looking back at the brown a bit more. He waited to see where these two would go.

Giving those gathered a cursory glance, the brown and the green would simply chitter and chirp at each other in a conversational manner. One can only wonder about what, as they did not seem to be in any hurry to go out and choose their humans just yet. This gave Surma the chance to clean them up, her tail swishing every now and again.

The peace was broken though when the remaining egg with the gold and black flecks would suddenly shake violently. And what had been hisses previously became screeches, as if the occupant was simply FURIOUS of being the very last. Claws would stab at the shell from within, leaving behind many holes but none big enough to allow the raging hatchling out.

The green flit seems especially startled, as she would suddenly take flight with a squeak, heading straight over to Roland and latching onto his head. She would chirp down at him in greeting, before anxiously looking towards where her brother still was.

Neither of sturdy make nor slender, this green lady is a perfect example of
what a normal firelizard should look like, if you ignore the markings that is.
She also always cleans up after herself and others, and she is keen to help
however she can, even if it is just by being someone for company. Her owner might
find their things switching places though if they are gone for long periods of time,
but it is never something horribly important... For that particular moment at least.

Finally the occupant of the remaining egg seems to manage to reign in her rage enough to concentrate on tearing through one spot only, and as soon as she could, the queen hatchling would push out her silver and obsidian head, eyes red with hunger and seething anger as she scans the room with a sharp gaze. Upon spotting Sabrina, she would let loose another screech, sharper and more terrifying now with no shell to muffle it.

Making her attempts to free her self even more vigorous, it would not take long until she would be out of her egg. And the obsidian would have no doubt launched into the air to assault the other young queen in the room, if it was not for Surma calmly placing her weight on her daughter.

The brown flit had watched this all with narrowed eyes, as if he had been ready to try and stop his raging sister himself if not for his mother. Looking between Sabrina and his sister, the sturdy hatchling makes a decision and takes flight, landing firmly on O'rshon's shoulder. He would give his sister a level stare and tilt his chin up in a proud manner. He would be the protector of this person now.

Sturdy and a bit on the thicker side, this brown growls and huffs most of the time.
He is very aware of what he views as 'his' area, even if he were to join a fair with a Queen.
His fairmates would eventually see his more caring side, but visitors ought to remain respectful
and at a distance. He is especially keen on flying further out of the Weyr grounds like his mother.
The brown can also decide to fall asleep on, or beside his owner. With time he would not mind his smaller
fairmates gathering on top of him for sleep.

Maliciath kept a sharp eye on the last Egg and the brown and green. She curled and uncurled around hers. Unlike the other hatchings these two had a 'shinier' gleam to them and she could not tell if she would be okay or not if one impressed to her Roland. The choice was made for her as the last egg scretched and hissed and The green and blue Firelizard attached herself to Rolands head.

Roland felt Maliciath's unease and well he didn't know what the other emotion was. He looked back to the nest with the now screeching egg and the green and blue flying towards him. The greenrider stood still as the green clung to his head. She leaned down and chirped in greeting before he could feel her anxiety towards the Obsidian hatching being sat on by her mother. Roland reached up for the greens head to scratch. He cooed at her pushing her a little and showing the bolw of meat he had for her to eat. She looked to the nest back to Roland then jumped down to the bowl and inhaled the meat.

Maliciath watched the green closly as Roland rubbed her blue and green head lovingly. He was suddenly eye level with her with a smile,

"What should we call her Mal, know any good names?" He smiled at her. She looked at the now sleeping green with her blue markings.

"Meri seems to fit." She responded. Roland smiled wider and hugged her.
"Meri it is." He said. He stood back up and caught Cryssa's attention nodding in thanks since he didn't want to yell across the room at her before herding Maliciath out of the weyr, she gave Cindath a nodded as well before leaving with hers.

V'lad remained silent, not caring to interrupt the flitts hatching with words. His eyes were focused on the babies, marveling at the pretty patterns and colors. In no time at all, all of the eggs had hatched and most had impressed. Lastly, a curiously marked Obsidion was screeching as she hatched. V'lad smirked a bit. A feisty one, she'd be.

O'rshon watched as the green and brown continued to cheep at each other, and then suddenly there were any screeches. He looked towards the largest egg, the last egg, eyes wide. Whatever was inside, was not happy. On his shoulder, Sabrina stiffened, as it became quite clear that the hatchling inside seemed to have an immediate vendetta against the young Obsidian. As another screech is heard, the poor green flits off, clearly startled, before landing next to Roland.

O'rshon had been prepared to tuck Sabrina in his vest if needs be, but it would seem Surma had her daughter well in hand. And then the pretty brown seemed to make his own decision. O'rshon recognized the protective gaze, and the next thing he knew, he had the young brown on his other shoulder. He reached up to gently caress between the small head nobs and offer up small pieces of meat from his bowl. He scoots back a bit, careful not to bump into anyone or dislodge anyone on his shoulders.

Sabrina looks over to the brown and chirps at him, a welcoming sound. Clearly she is not displeased with this new friend of hers. O'rshon sighs softly, making sure the brown is fed well. "Lichen. I think I will call you Lichen." He nods at that, smiling at Cryssa. "Thank you. I think I'll duck out, however.." He chuckled as he indicated Surma and her fiery-tempered daughter. And so saying, he stood and made his way back to his weyr.

"Ah, thank you for being here!" Cryssa would chirp and wave to both O'rshon and Roland, before cuddling happily against Zarrin some more. The screeching from the obsidian hatchling had been quite startling, but Surma seemed to have it all under control. Well... Except now there was another sort of a commotion in the basket.

The obsidian hatchling had finally freed herself of Surma's hold, and had clearly been keen on chasing down her rival, when she stumbles over a rather large eggshell, the remains left by her red and white brother. She would have paid it no mind, except there was a feeble squeak, too quiet for the humans in the room to hear.

Surma could hear it all too well though, and she was soon chasing her own daughter off the basket, hissing as she huddles over the eggshell only to gently scoop at it to try and reveal whatever was underneath. The obsidian seemed greatly conflicted, wether to snap at her mother or to try and cozy her way back so she could investigate what had been the cause of the noise. She was hanging at the very edge of the basket now, peering at the surprisingly gentle efforts of the gold queen, and the obsidian felt want, even if she could not explain why.

Deciding to do something about it, the aggressive queen hatchling takes a look of the crowd still remaining. There were still those who remained who had one of her siblings, and while she could try and reign over them as she rightfully should.... Her eyes are drawn to one of the redheads in the room, calculating before she would take flight. Landing in the bowl he held, the obsidian would first hiss and then croon at S'ol, before starting to munch away at the pieces of meat, eyes whirling a rainbow of impression.

Queen of the cold Underworld.

Jealous of everything the day she hatched, this dark queen barely tolerates her siblings and her mother, let alone any strangers for that matter. It will take her a long time to get used to any new pets her owner might have, but when she does the obsidian will look after them as any true Queen would.
In fact, her sense of unity is much stronger than that of her aloof mother, and she will covet and herd her fairmates to keep them close to heart. She has a slender, more serpentine body like her mother's, and while she will not be as large, this queen will be just as magnificent and terrible.

Meanwhile, Surma would have finally uncovered the source of the mysterious noise, and she was now curled around a very small, very dull coloured hatchling. The markings and the washed out colours indicate that he could be a white quartz with some green colours, however it seems it has been simply too early for him to hatch. Even moreso, it seems that one of his eyes have been clawed at, leaving a long wound from his forehead to his jawline.

The golden queen would look up from where she was curled around her small son, staring at her owner until Cryssa would blink and calmly seek out an unclaimed bowl of meat. Hurrying over to the basket, she would hesitantly hold out a piece for Surma, who would tear out an even smaller piece and hold it to the feeble hatchling, who needed quite a bit of nudging until he would take it and tiredly chew on it. In between the slow feeding, the harper would look at the crowd and smile apologetically, a concerned furrow to her brow. "Ah, I am sorry, but it seems the hatching has come to an end... Surma seems rather worked up, and I'll be a bit busy..."
