Welcome
to the southern continent

D'Sanctine Weyr takes place in 10th Pass Pern. AIVAS was never discovered, and Thread still falls on the planet. Overpopulating causes stress in the Weyrs, which leads to the foundation of a new southern Weyr, dubbed D'Sanctine. A Hold is founded to support the Weyr, titled Sanctis Hold. Old riders and prospective candidates flock to the new Weyr for a chance at an easier, less crowded life, but the hatching of dragons of strange colors has left the more conservative holds and Weyrs in the north uneasy. The political atmosphere is tense as a drawn bowstring-- it is only a matter of time before the arrow is loosed.

Current Events
what's happening!

Summer - P10 T16

5/4/17 - Mornings have been foggy thanks to warm days and cool evenings. There was recently a routine Threadfall that only resulted in a few injuries and no fatalities. The weyrfolk are gathering and brewing up some vats of numbweed to resupply, so a section of the Weyr is going to be awfully stinky for a few days.

4/1/17 - Fall has arrived, and with it pleasant breezes and the occasional storm. It's by no means cold, but it isn't as impossibly hot and humid as summer gets.

[ P.S. There will be eggs. ]

It was time again, and it showed in the gleaming green of Muraath's hide, her colors seeming especially vibrant - and blindingly bright - in the warm light of the sun. She had been restless these past few days, and that too had shown her nearing Rise - prone to prowling about her ledge, fanning her wings wide to show their length and stretching sinuously to best show off her lean body. There were scars upon her hide - distressingly obvious - to show she was no fresh hatchling, that she had flown and fought as any other grown dragon did. She had worried at them internally, but just now she was glad none were new, none were unhealed wounds.

She was scarred, but this Flight would not be on the tail of some great calamity, where she and half the males besides were injured. Surely those injuries had been why the potion had failed her twice now. It couldn't be that it simply didn't work! Camiath had clutched, near fresh from the shell! Of course, no other greens had, since, but... Well! They had perhaps been injured too! Or perhaps they hadn't been entirely diligent in taking the potion, day after day!

She had made sure that A're had given her a dose today, doubly sure, and would have made triply sure if she hadn't sensed a touch of annoyance in his thoughts when she considered asking after it again. Perhaps more doses would see a better effect? But Hers had refused her it, and even now as she considered it, he glanced at her, his brows furrowed in a slight frown.

It will work this time, won't it? I am in the peak of health now, and I will fly well and far and high. It must work this time!

"Maybe. Mura ya have ta... ya have ta consider that maybe it's just not meant ta be, ya know? I mean, I know that woman charged us a pretty sum for it, but it might have just been a swindle! So... So if it doesn't work this time, then don't... don't let it get ta ya, allright?" A're strode across the weyr to join her on her ledge, laying a hand against her flank. Her hide was warm beneath his hand, heated by the sun and maybe something more.

It will work though, Mine! Oh... But what if... What if it is not me? But the males? Perhaps they need to take something as well! Oh, but Ferith did not take anything when he caught Camiath... The green gave the mental impression of a frown, her tail twitching like a nervous snake upon the heated stone of her ledge. Still, if it does not work, then... then I will ask to see if there is something the males might take.

Muraath rumbled decisively, then snaked her neck around to nudge A're's cheek with her muzzle, whuffing heated breath across his skin until he laughed and shoved her away. "Yer ready, right? Go, then. I'll be... I'll be here, waitin'!"

The green needed little further incentive than that. She leaped from her ledge, beat a short distance skyward, then loosed her challenge with a loud bugle. I Rise! Come one and all, any who dare! Prove you're a worthy father to my eggs! She didn't pause to kill and sup upon blood, wouldn't have the boost in energy that might grant her, but still, she would fly as far and as fast as she could manage!

It would stand to reason that no sooner had Muraath become airborn, than Salanath was right on her heels. The large brown stayed very close to the green since he had caught her last, and knew when she was going to rise again. But this time, it was different. Though his hide was scarred, they were all old, nothing fresh and knew. He could fly properly, to -really- show Muraath what he was made of. He knew in her state, previous bonds did not matter. But he was damn sure going to prove himself if he could, and properly.

The answering cry came swiftly, his wings carrying his large frame easily enough, graceful pinions stretching, using no more than was absolutely necessary for this flight. He would conserve, but he would be close. While she was quick, he had a stamina easily double hers, and he was not without his own surprises, despite his grate size. Calling to her again, an encouraging croon.

Lovely Muraath, as beautiful now as ever you were. Fly strong, give us something to strive for. No new wounds, allow me to prove myself once again, worthy to sire your offspring. I will carry you long, far, and never leave your side.

Of course, he knew words were just that. Likely he wasn't saying anything she'd not hear many more times during this flight. But he was earnest, determined, even as his eyes whirled red with rut agitation, e kept himself on her tail, giving just enough space for her to perform acrobatics if she so desired. He knew not how stiff the competition would be, but he would put up a fight for the right to her again.

Meanwhile, T'nan knew what was going on. He'd been down in the kitchens, but the moment Muraath bugled, and Salanath was off after her, he groaned. Well, at least he was in the Weyr proper. Moving as swiftly as he could, he made for A're's weyr. He did not bother knocking, but simply let himself in. It wasn't awkward this time, not like the last. They knew each other better, and the brown rider was quick to pull A're against him as they waited out the flight. Though he dearly hopes his Salanath would fly her again, all that -really- mattered was having A're in his arms.

Ilureth's eyes were squinted with his content as he sunned himself upon his ledge, neck arched in a pretty S-shape and wings loose at his sides. The sun was pleasant upon his sapphire hide, bringing out the iridescent shades of royal blues and purples, and his eyes were a calm cerulean to match. Seva had not been busy today, not traveling anyhow-- she had been doing less of that since the new Weyrwoman came into power.

Yet, there was something that nagged at him, some kind of discomfort that he understood to not be a physical irritant. His skin was freshly oiled, his injuries long-healed, his relaxed limbs tucked comfortably beneath him. It was a mental nudge, an instinctual pressure at the base of his cranium that made him shake his head and slowly open his eyes. The faceted orbs scanned the 'bowl for disturbances, and finally when he caught sight of a hide the color of bright, tropical moss, he understood. Muraath, whose last flight he had lost, was winging from her ledge and preparing to fly once more.

It took him no time at all to shake off his drowsiness, on his paws and in the air in one smooth motion that brought him up behind the gleaming green. She had not blooded any kills today, and he wondered why that was. A brown he recognized as the one who had won her previously was flying as well, and they were apparently the first of her suitors. Ilureth's eyes now gleamed scarlet and purple, tinged with a lighter orange. He beat his wings with languid ease, letting out a throaty bugle to respectfully announce his pursuit to Muraath.

I am glad to see you in such good health and form, Muraath. Your scars speak of your tenacity and your experience, of a dragon who has survived. Your children would doubtlessly be as fierce as their dam! May the male with the best chances of providing you with a clutch win.

He was less poetic this time around, his quiet tenor meant to be encouraging and hopeful rather than blatantly charming. Of course, that did not mean he did not intend to compete and fly his best-- he flew with the intention of winning, though he had never been the type of male to be embittered by loss.

It came suddenly, but J'lor knew all too soon that Sabath would chase after the rising green. The Brown had been persistent in the flights, yet to catch, but ever ready and certain he would one day father a clutch himself. J'lor sympathized with the Brown, he was an impressive creature by anyone's estimation, he was built for speed and agility and that would lend itself well to the flights he was a part of.

J'lor felt warmth rise in his cheeks just as Sabath rose into the air. No words passed between the two, the exchange of emotion was familiar, and neither needed to give words to what the Brown would be attempting.

Sabath, with grace and passion rose into the air, easily gaining altitude and closing the distance to the green and her gathering flight of suitors. He weaved and cut through the others, his abilities in the sky were unmatched, at least by his estimation.

Sweet Muraath, I will care for you and the young we would produce with all of my being. There is no other that would be so dedicated to our children and to you. Please, allow me to show you.

Sabath trumpeted a physical sound to match his mental words.

Cindath has been keeping an eye on all the greens and roses taking flight quite actively, and perhaps it was simply the fact that His was growing ever larger and apparently getting ever closer to the baby 'hatching'. It all made the shiny winged blue all sorts of excited and fidgety, but also eager to sire eggs with someone.

So when he hears Muraath's call, the friendly blue takes wing right away, not even minding the others being just as ready to chase after her. Oh no, he simply had eyes for the lovely green, nevermind that she had been caught by Salanath last time!

And as always, the amorous blue would break out in a song, crooning and humming sweetly after Muraath while weaving amongst the males who were more or less his size or larger.

I'll be your dream, I'll be your wish, I'll be your fantasy~
I'll be your hope, I'll be your love, be everything that you need.
I love you more with every breath, truly madly deeply do~
I will be strong, I will be faithful 'cause I'm counting on a new beginning~
A reason for living. A deeper meaning.

I want to stand with you on a mountain.
I want to bathe with you in the sea.
I want to lay like this forever.
Until the sky falls down on me~

Muraath heard them, bugling out behind her as they fell in to give chase, she heard the heavy beat of their wings, felt their thoughts brushing hers as they reached out. It pleased her, but she did not glance back - not yet, not until she had gained more distance. She recognized them all the same: Salanath at the forefront for now - he had courted her since last she had chosen him, and Hers cared for His; Ilureth, who had once caught her sister Valenth, and had seemed a fine and attentive mate; Sabath, young and untried, but as swift and agile as any blue; and Cindath with his beautiful voice, young as well but singing as sweetly as a veteran of many flights.

She needed to fly farther, higher, and she trilled out her own song as she beat higher - wordless and wanting, encouraging her suitors to fly on, to dance. She glanced back at them finally, looking at her glittering vibrant blues and her stately earthy browns. All my handsome suitors, Muraath's mental voice was a purr, sweet and seductive. Dance with me, match me, show me how beautifully you can fly~

She tipped her wings, dropping into a shallow dive, then tilted further, rolling to the side in a smooth motion - the showy spiral slowed her, left her open if any intended to grab her before she made her choice, but he trusted that they would not do so. Surely none would break her trust?

Salanath became aware of the rivals. Fortunately, for a brown, he wasn't prone to temper flare ups, only given fairly quiet warnings if he was encroached upon, though everyone seemed spatially aware of everyone else for now. Each had their own merits. Youth, vigor, voice, pure appearance. And each male this time was in excellent health. What better way to prove himself now, more than ever?

He kept his eyes on Muraath, wings beating steadily, until she dove, HIs wings lightly cocked back, following her in that shallow dive. He was close. He seemed to never lose any ground, in fact. His stamina would be greater than his, and though he trailed her perfectly, he knew he could carry her. My sweet Muraath. As I carried you injured, can you imagine the flight we shall have with me being well? Our children will be strong. They will be fighters! They will have heart and spirit, if only you'll be mine again.

And so he joined her on her shallow roll, rumbling to her. Of course, he'd not snatch her up, but he would bring himself as close as he dared, for a caress. His talons would not twine hers, not yet, but they would reach, while his tail would briefly caress her hindquarters. Just a touch. No intention of taking her against her will, but alert for any who might. He flew like this with her, rumbling in contentment. He knew His and Hers were together at this moment, and for the older, more experienced brown, that mattered as much as his ability to catch Muraath again. Invitingly, his talons spread, something like a draconic purr emitted, offering his own for her to grab, should she desire to do so.
